Most Australians either pay an accountant hundreds of dollars for a straightforward tax return, or they self-lodge and leave deductions on the table they didn't know they were entitled to. The ATO's own tools are functional but offer no guidance — they record what you enter, nothing more. There was a clear gap for a product that combines the convenience of self-lodgement with intelligent, personalised advice.
Guided return flow
TaxWiz walks users through their return in plain language — no tax jargon, no confusing forms. The flow adapts based on the user's situation: employment type, income sources, and life events. Most users complete their return in around 20 minutes.
AI deduction optimisation
As users progress through the return, an AI engine analyses their profile and surfaces deductions they may have missed — work from home expenses, vehicle use, professional development, equipment, and more. Each suggestion is explained clearly with ATO guidance linked, so users understand exactly what they're claiming and why.
